NSW Premier Rejects Coroner Recommendations and Reintroduces Festival License Scheme

Not only has NSW premier, Gladys Berejiklian, rejected the state coroner's leaked recommendations to introduce pill testing at festivals but she also plans to reintroduce the previously disallowed festival licensing scheme with new legislation.

The premier spoke in defiance of evidence-based research into sensible drugs policy after yesterday's leaking of draft recommendations resulting from the state coronial inquiry into festival drug deaths.

Ms Berejiklian expressed her government's opposition to pill testing, saying "we think it gives people a false sense of security".
