There ws a time when the most that Ecuador registered in global clubland was on Euro-house group Sash!’s hit in 1997. The video featured a chagra – a cowboy of the Andes – shouting the song’s only word, “Ecuadooooooor”, over an insidiously catchy piano hook. That’s not so true any more.
